Cliques

Today when I was in a class, the person teaching us chose to talk about cliques. Everybody has their own little group that nobody else can be in unless they are invited. Everybody is classified as something. It might be a jock, a cheerleader, a geek, a music person, or anything else. People can only be friends with those that are 'the same status'.

Anyway, he showed us a little bit of a movie showing this and how we can overcome it. The movie he showed us what 'Remeber the Titans'. This is a show about how white and black people learned to accept one another and look past the color of their skin.

Our teacher told us that we should just be friends with everybody. It shouldn't matter what people are, it should be about who people are. He challenged us to try and make a new friend that we don't know and wouldn't normally hang out with.

Another thing was this; at activities where we are not around people, we do come together. We form relationships and trust inbetween people that we didn't know before. When we are all by ourselves, we are not jocks or cheerleaders or geeks, we are just people. People who are trying to find out who they are and find friends who really care about them. But once we get back home to the real world, stuff like that starts to matter again. We fall away from each other and brake the bonds we had built up.

He told us that it didn't have to be that way. We can always have those friendships last. All we need to do it TRY.
