RESPECT

It seems to me that respect has been an ever-growing issue in our society. The respect for peers, friends, parents, teachers, etc. has been shrinking. One of the most troubling to respect issue, to me, is respect for women.

I hate how guys never seem to respect women, AT ALL. Back in the day, guys would be courteous, respectful, and careful of their language and actions just for the sake of the ladies. Now a days, guys just excert their hidden powers of using colorful languange whenever they feel like it.

My peeves of women courtesy:
1. The young men should open doors for the girls.(Whether it be the door of the school building, a car door, or the door of a movie theater.)
2. The young men should refrain from using their 'colorful' language when girls are present.
3. The young men should always treat girls with courtesy and respect, no matter how they inwardly feel about that particular person.
4. The young men should not pick fights ,or engage in fights, when girls are around.
5. The young men should treat their own kind(other guys) with respect.

Some people might tell me that there is no hope. Or that I am trying to live in an older, over-used era. But in reality, these common courtesies should still be excersized. Who wants to be treated like they are dirt under someones shoe?

I can garantee that girls will like guys so much better if the guys treat them with respect and make them feel special. WOW! I just spilled a secret of how to get a date! Maybe someone should try my guidelines and come testify as to how well it worked. Real life experiences would be great! Feel free to share.

But, don't get me wrong, some guys still know how to behave. There are always those one of a kind guys that will run to open the door for you, or the guys that are about to say something but change it so as to be kinder. They are still out there! Aren't you just filled with envy of these gentlemen? Stop right now. You can be one of them! All it takes is a little thinking on your part. Is it really that hard? NO! That's why you have a brain. I know you have one, maybe it's lost, but you still have one! Just a few seconds of thinking will help. Anything will help!

But, now you are probably thinking, "WHAT ABOUT US?". Well, you deserve respect too. If you start the courtesy wheel, it will keep spinning until it hits everyone. It takes one person to start a chain reaction. You will be treated with respect and courtesy, as well as your friends and neighbors.

This concept can be related to the movie "Pay it Forward". In this movie, one kid has an idea where he helps one person. That person then passes the idea on to another, causing a whole circle of kindness.

Don't worry, it will eventually get to you. If we each treated everyone else with respect, imagine the difference it would make! Remember, it just takes one.
