The Beauty of Service

Have you ever had that warm fuzzy feeling that you get when you do something nice? Well, service makes everybody feel that way.

I just got home from such an event.

For my mutual activity, we did service for kids. We read books on tapes and gave them to Primary Childrens Hospital for the kids. I hope that this service we did will brighten some child's day when they feel down in the dumps.

Service plays a HUGE role in everyones life. Serving others helps us to feel selfless. When serving others, we think of them rather than ourselves. If you feel angry or hateful towards someone, serve them. You will find yourself loving them. One can not serve someone and not learn to love them.

There are so many people out there who need our help. We may know them, we may not. But all the same, help is still needed. There are many ways for us to do service to others. Especially at this time of year. There are food drives, Sub for Santa, shoveling opportunities, and many more.

It is not only during Christmas that we should serve others, but all year long. Service doesn't have to be big. It comes in many sizes and packages. Service could include letting another car go before you at an intersection, reading a book to a child, helping a neighbor, or simply opening the door for someone.

Nobody is to high and mighty to help another through service. The most loved kings were the ones that worked and served along side their subjects.

Let us all try to look for opportunities to serve each other. When we find one, we should take advantage of it. It will make our life, and whom ever we are servings life, better. There is always someone in need.
