Questionable sources

Don't you just hate it when you walk in on people talking? You ask what they were talking about but they look at the ground and say "Nothing" Here is a story I have about such an incident.
One day a wonderfully amazing girl named Katrina Viliosophe was sitting in her english class, two minutes before the bell was to ring.
Finally, after the excruciating wait, the bell began to toll its mournful toll. As Katrina walked out the room, she saw her two friends, Belle and Alexandria, talking at their locker. It took her less than a split second to zoom over to them. Only, when she got there, her day started going down hill.......
"Hi! What are you guys talking about?" asked Katrina, ready to join the conversation.
Both friends automatically put their heads down and replied "Oh, Nothing."
Well, you can imagine the effect such a display had on our little friend. Taking that conversation very personally, Katrina walked away from her two best friends. Only, now she was thinking that they weren't because, best friends tell you everything.

To make a long story short, Katrina found out that this is what they had been talking about:

Tommy told Andrea, who told Alicia, who told Cris, who told Patrick, who told Lacey, who told Tiffany, who told David, who told Belle, that Katrina had eaten two cases of broccoli. That may sound dumb to you, but in Radishville, nobody ate broccoli. So, as you can tell, this was a HUGE story.

If you ask me, they didn't seem to have a very reliable train of sources. To prove my point, Katrina didn't even eat the broccoli.
